Mental Health Awareness for Line Managers

Mental health issues cost the country around 4.5% of GDP and is thought to be behind about half of all long term absences. Millions of working days are lost to it each year, and yet it still remains a taboo area for discussion with many people.

Individual organisations will know they have issues they need to tackle, and rather like an iceberg they will also know there is probably far more below the surface to deal with.

Tackling these issues is vital in improving working lives for employees and a major factor in addressing productivity and business outcomes.

Line Managers and HR professionals are very much on the front line in seeking positive outcomes and in dealing with issues as they arise. To stand any chance of being successful they will need to be aware of mental health issues and how to create the environment in which to deal with them.
