Overview

How to conduct and manage each stage of a fair internal investigation, from gathering and evaluating evidence through to presenting findings.

This course guides you through the key aspects of each stage of a disciplinary or grievance investigation to ensure the right processes are being carried out at the right time.

Business need

There are many reasons for holding an internal investigation in the workplace. Investigations are held to clarify and establish the facts of an individual case and to assist in a decision as to whether there are grounds to call a formal hearing. Employers could be held liable if a poor investigation leads to an unfair dismissal.

This course lays out the context for conducting a fair investigation by discussing natural justice and the balance of probability. This workshop then takes delegates through the various stages involved; from planning an investigation, gathering and assessing evidence, interviewing techniques and evaluating and presenting the findings.

This one day course ensures that you are considering all the critical factors involved in the process of conducting an investigation so that it is undertaken in a fair and un-biased manner.

What our delegates say about our training:

"I was a little sceptical at first as the course I booked was described as "an in-depth course into disciplinary investigations", in just one day? but I was soon proved wrong. The course was presented in a relaxed but efficient way. Case studies used were excellent examples and the trainer was always more than willing to give help and advice on our own particular experiences. All in all it was worth every penny and the knowledge gained was far more than I had expected. I would recommend any manager, supervisor or HR personnel to attend this course in this day and age of employment and disciplinary procedural headaches."
