An Introduction to Mediation

Overview

This introductory course will help you consider the implications for introducing mediation in your organisation. Delegates will leave with a clear understanding of what workplace mediation is (and what it isn't), the principles of mediation and how it can benefit your organisation or team.

Business need

Conflict at work is costly.  Disputes between colleagues, team, employees and their managers divert time and energy away from the business.  Where formal internal procedures are invoked or Employment Tribunal claims made, the cost can be even greater.  Mediation and mediation skills can help organisations deal with conflict more effectively and reduce some of those costs.  In this session you will learn more about: what mediation is, the mediation process, when mediation can be appropriate and how you can introduce mediation into your workplace.

Suitable For

HR practitioners and anyone with an interest in looking at how their organisation might manage conflict more effectively.  The session will look at the role of the mediator and some of the skills involved but is not intended to equip delegates to act as mediators.
