Managing absence at work

Overview

Practical guidance on improving employee attendance at work.

This event includes an interactive afternoon session where delegates will be taken through the communication skills required to conduct effective return to work interviews. Delegates will also have an opportunity to consolidate on what they have learnt through tutor lead exercises and group role play.

Business need

Absence costs the average employer eight working days per employee each year. These absences and their effect on operating costs and productivity are a concern for most organisations. What is often not recognised is the effect that proper absence management procedures can have in improving attendance. In this training session we provide guidance on best practice in reducing levels of absenteeism. We also take you through the process of identifying patterns of absence, dealing with frequent short term absence and handling long term absence. Guidance will also be given on the Statement of Fitness for Work.
