Acas is joined by leading experts from academia and industry for a very special day of interactive masterclasses to help you with your organisational challenges, improve your management skills, network with other professionals and share information.

This programme for this event will include:




Opening address by Sir Brendan Barber. Brendan was the General Secretary of the TUC from 2003 to 2012 and appointed Acas Chair in 2014.




Masterclass 1: Building resilience in the modern day workplace; Abigail Hirshman - Acas Senior Adviser



The fast paced, 24/7, nature of the modern workplace can take its toll on employees. This session will help you discover how resilience can minimise the impact of workplace stress and provide you with practical top tips and tools to build a more resilient workforce.




Masterclass 2: Employment Law Update - The Legal Perspective; Glenn Hayes and Sam Clark - Irwin Mitchell This session will bring you up to date with the most recent, and future changes to employment legislation, with need to know case law on holiday pay, gender pay and much more.




Masterclass 3: The Power of Language in Conflict Resolution; Dr Rein Sikveland



Learn how language can play an important role in dealing effectively with workplace conflict.




Masterclass 4: Health, work and wellbeing; Dr Carolyn Yeoman, Principal Organisational Psychologist at HSE There is a growing need to understand how modern workplace challenges can affect both employers and employees. Carolyn will be talking us through the HSE management standards approach to tackling work related stress and will provide delegates with the latest developments in this model.
