Working Effectively with Trade Unions

Overview

This event will benefit HR Specialists who are new or less familiar with working in a unionised environment. It will help them to examine how they can influence relationships in a positive and constructive way when working with the unions and other managers across the business.

This event will be facilitated by a Senior Collective Conciliator with extensive experience of Employment Relations across all sectors including the public sector, manufacturing and transport.

Business need

In today’s world change is a constant, and how it is handled determines how successful we are at implementation. In a unionised environment this can prove to be more challenging because procedures need to be followed – but it can also be an opportunity to consider another point of view. It can provide the chance for checks and balance and an opportunity to stimulate innovative problem solving when handled well.

Attendees will leave with more confidence and a wealth of knowledge on best practice. They will understand how trade unions are structured and how best to work with them to manage change.

They will also gain an overview of the legislation which applies to consulting employee representatives regarding redundancy, TUPE etc as well as an insight into the general principles of the law around industrial action.
