Mock mediation - A rare opportunity to see mediation in action

Overview

Managers don’t need to be told how time consuming, stressful, disruptive and expensive conflict can be for all concerned. This event will demonstrate what mediation looks like in practice and how it works to resolve conflict quickly and effectively with tangible business benefits.

It will be an interactive event in which you see the various stages of the process in action. We will take a step by step approach and invite the audience to participate in discussions throughout.

Business need

Conflict between people at work causes problems for them, for their manager and for the organisation. Mediation is often discussed as an option to tackle conflict. This event will show delegates what mediation is, how it works and when it can be appropriate and helpful to you.

Suitable For

Anyone with staff management responsibilities, particularly those involved in disciplinary matters, including HR specialists, line managers, owner managers, TU officials and lay representatives

Programme

This event will take the form of an acted demonstration of a typical workplace conflict, watching the story unfold and reaching an agreed solution with the help of the experienced mediator. Take this opportunity to witness for yourself just how mediation works. Our compere will lead you through the process stage by stage allowing you to see exactly what happens but from the comfort of your seat. At each stage, the action will be paused for you to raise questions and there will be time for discussion and questions on the process and outcome.

Following this session, you will understand:-

  • The Mediation Process
  • What mediation looks like – what actually happens
  • The benefits of mediation
  • When mediation is appropriate
