The General Data Protection Regulations: an employment perspective

Overview

The new Government Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) come into effect in May 2018. These give individuals greater rights over how their data is stored and used, and present tougher penalties for those in breach.

Join us and our guest speakers as we look at the new regulations from an employment perspective and the steps you need to take as an employer before they come into effect.

Business need

If your organisation holds or processes personal data (e.g. employee names, addresses and dates of birth) the new regulations apply to you and you need to be prepared for your additional data management responsibilities going forward.

Delegates will gain a better understanding of the policies and procedures required to protect personal data, and the technical and organisational measures required to remain compliant.

This event will include contributions from Dave Baker of Performance Plus Partnership, a qualified lead auditor Data and Information Security; and Employment Law Solicitor, Oliver Pryke.

Suitable For

Individuals who work in a business or organisation of any size with responsibility for processing personal information about people who work for the organisation, for example: business owners, directors, pay roll clerks and anyone with HR responsibility.

Programme

This conference will include:

  • What is GDPR? Including an explanation of some of the terms used and how it applies to your business/organisation
  • Legal requirements relating to HR data including, reasons for holding data, consent, and processing of data
  • Practical application of preparation for GDPR
  • Discussion and questions
  • Networking lunch

Please note that this event focusses on how the GDPR relates to HR data and does not guarantee to cover other aspects of GDPR.
