Acas digital conference: The future of workplaces

2020 saw a mass exodus of employees from traditional workplaces, with furlough and remote working becoming common place. Businesses have had to make significant changes to their operating models, sometimes overnight. Equally, employees have faced huge change, juggling caring responsibilities whilst still performing and adapting to new ways of working. Further challenges have arisen in terms of maintaining resilience, mental health, wellbeing and work-life balance.

Join Acas and guest speakers as we discuss how the workplace has adapted and what the future of working could look like.

Business need

In 2020 the coronavirus pandemic had a sudden and significant impact on the ways in which we work. Nationally, there are few businesses that have not in some capacity had to rapidly adjust their operating models. For most, it has been a complete upheaval of the norm and, understandably, there are many asking, ‘where do we go from here?’

This event will discuss how businesses have adapted, and what the future might hold for working practices. We’ll consider how remote management has impacted employer/employee relations, how homeworking has given us an opportunity to address traditional gender roles and with working patterns upended, whether we will see an end to the tradition of 9 to 5 working.

This event will be delivered digitally via zoom. There will be the opportunity for delegates to ask questions.

Suitable For

Delegates from all sectors of industry including: managers, supervisors, team leaders, HR professionals, business owners, Trade Union representatives, employee representatives and individuals who wish to enhance their CPD.

This digital conference will include the following speaker sessions:

  • Nicola Millard (Principal Innovation Partner, BT)
BT have been industry leading in their approach to working practices for many years. Previously, Nicola has discussed how workplaces will shift to new venues, such as coffee shops, now that many of us are working from home offices. She will look at how lessons learnt from the past can help shape the future of people management and working.

  • Kate Nowicki (Director of strategic planning, performance and change, ACAS)
Kate will focus on how Acas has managed and maintained employee relations during this expansion of remote working and going forward, how the business plans to utilise this change for the benefit of both individual employees and the organisation.

  • Lachlan Wilson (Employment and education law barrister, 3PB Chambers)
With his expertise in discrimination law as well as contract change, Lachlan will be providing a legal perspective on how businesses have and may well continue to change and adapt as a consequence of the pandemic.

  • Panel Discussion
You will be given the opportunity to ask questions of the panel and revisit key points raised by the speakers.
