Conducting disciplinary hearings
Overview
In this full day event we examine the process of carrying out disciplinary and appeals hearings.
Business need
The proper handling of discipline at work is central to good employment relations. A failure to consistently follow best practice guidelines can lead to a perception of unfairness amongst the workforce or even legal action! Our emphasis is on the use of discussion and practical exercises to help you understand the principles involved in conducting fair hearings and making sound disciplinary decisions. All delegates will receive an electronic certificate of attendance for their participation in the training.
Suitable For
Supervisors, Managers and HR professionals interested in developing the knowledge and skills relevant to disciplinary and appeal hearings
Programme
Our expert-led training sessions are designed to facilitate discussion and interaction. This event will cover: - Discipline - an overview

- Hearing - the allegation, the employees reply, distinguishing between facts and hearsay, interviewing key witnesses, communication and questioning techniques, the role of the accompanying person, note taking, adjournments and summing up.
- Outcome - informing the decision, evidence and mitigating factors, burden of proof, reasonable belief and delivering the decision.
- Appeals - considering a reasonable timeframe, hearing new evidence, accompaniment and overturning decisions.
