Managing bereavement and critical illness: a masterclass

Overview

The up-coming Employment Rights Bill contains proposals to expand the scope of bereavement leave.

Employer’s will need to consider adapting policies to support employees who are impacted by bereavement.

At this event, experts from Untangle Grief, Grief Chat and Elephant in the Room Training will be explaining both legal considerations and how to improve organisational best practice and policies.

As well as bereavement, the speakers will also explore employer support for people facing life threatening or life-limiting conditions such as cancer.

Business Need

Bereavement can have a devasting effect on an individual and it can also have an impact on teams and the workplace.

There is a strong business and legal case for managing employees who are facing life-limiting illness or bereavement sensitively and effectively.

Poor understanding of how to manage terminally ill or bereaved employees can be extremely damaging for employee relations.

This could lead to increased absence, staff turnover, low productivity and legal repercussions.

This event will help people managers and HR professionals improve their understanding of the law and take practical insights back into their workplace.
