Individuals are living longer and therefore often working longer too. This offers valuable opportunities for organisations but it can also present some challenges and new considerations.

Funded by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work and hosted by Acas, this free event will provide an insight into a range of different perspectives on managing an ageing workforce and the measures that can be put in place to help extend working lives. It will focus on public policy and initiatives as well as theory and research in this area.

Business Need

Changes to pension arrangements and the demographic landscape mean that businesses are now entering into unknown territory when it comes to dealing with age-related issues within the workplace. With the UK economy facing a skills shortage within the next 5 to 10 years, businesses will need to consider ways of supporting those individuals who wish to extend their working lives.

Research has shown that if an older worker is given the right support and working arrangements they can be the most engaged members of the workforce. Maximising the potential of all sectors of your workforce can contribute to the overall productivity and profitability of your organisation.
