Simplifying TUPE in a day: understand the rules and avoid the pitfalls

Business transfers, outsourcing, being sold off, privatised – whatever the context - TUPE transfers can be one of the most testing, confusing and stressful areas of business activity for employers and employees from all sectors.

In January 2014 the Government introduced new TUPE legislation that brought significant changes – join us to make sure that you’re aware of what these mean for your organisation.

This special Acas event will help explain and simplify TUPE. We will focus on providing a clear overview of the process and a checklist of procedures that need to be considered before embarking on TUPE.

We will give an update on recent legal cases and importantly we will show delegates how to ensure employment relations issues are dealt with effectively alongside the legal considerations.

Acas' employment relations experts will be joined at this event by:

Dr John McMullen
, one of the best known employment lawyers in the UK and regarded as the country's leading expert on TUPE.

John is Director of Employment Law at Wrigleys Solicitors LLP, Visiting Professor of Law at Durham University and author of leading textbook, Business Transfers and Employee Rights

Brexit or not - the HR challenges facing organisations

Business has been challenged to develop a coherent industrial strategy and this is regardless of the Brexit issue – we invite you to consider with us what the HR element is and how HR can help you meet that challenge.

The conference will provide delegates with an insight from experts in the field of employment relations and people management into the role of HR in responding to the challenges set by Brexit and an insight into current and future developments in collective and individual employment rights.

We aim to focus on the ways in which HR and a changed employment relations environment can enable organisations to respond to the challenges set by Brexit, especially in areas of increasing productivity, innovation, workforce planning and organisational development.

We will provide delegates with an insight in to current employment law, covering areas such as, industrial action legislation, employee status, gender pay reporting and modern day slavery legislation, as well as providing an insight in to the possible changes to legislation post Brexit.
